Meet Nicole Mastacouris, BS, Research Fellow, Department of Dermatology, Donald & Barbara Zucker School of Medicine, Hofstra/Northwell, who shared her research at the recent 2023 GVF Annual Scientific Symposium.
In her presentation,“Incidence and Prevalence of Vitiligo in the United States,” she estimated that based on the 2019 US population, there are approximately 74,600 new cases of vitiligo per year and approximately 528,000 prevalent cases in the US.
She also noted that dermatologists should be aware of the increased burden of vitiligo, particularly among older individuals and patients of color.
