A Journey of Resilience, Strength, and Beauty
World Vitiligo Day-USA 2026 was held in the beautiful and dynamic city of Charlotte, North Carolina on June 26-28, 2026. The conference theme, “Look How Far We’ve Come: A Journey of Resilience, Strength, and Beauty” was a powerful reflection of the global vitiligo community’s extraordinary growth, courage, and unity over the past decade of US-based conferences. This year’s event was a celebration of both how far we’ve come and the incredible journey ahead. Serving as the WVD-USA 2026 host group, the North Carolina Vitiligo Support Community curated a program full of meaningful moments and exciting experiences.
The conference kicked off Friday evening with an energetic and inspiring fashion show. Four local designers, each living with or closely connected to vitiligo, designed custom fashions for a group of very special runway models: individuals with vitiligo. Thank you to our fashion designers: Brian Atkins of Studio B Designs, Skipp Waller of BlackCat4Eva, Melissa Bailey of Fin Fatale Fashion, and Twotone Johnson.
Saturday’s program featured a keynote presentation from Amber Nicole, beauty influence and founder of With Amber Nicole, in which she shared her journey of self-acceptance and self-love. Medical expert insights were shared by some of the world’s leading dermatologists specializing in vitiligo treatment and research. A community stories panel discussion showcased the broad spectrum of experiences for individuals with vitiligo, and the afternoon breakout sessions provided opportunities for deep connection and conversation in small groups. The Kids & Teens program included games, crafts, and a very special visit from supermodel Winnie Harlow. MJ Footworkz and DJ Shel-Rock Roberts leveled-up the excitement, joy, celebration on Saturday night.
The final day of WVD-USA 2026 focused on the journey of kids and teens living with vitiligo. Children who participated in Saturday’s kids’ program shared their experiences with the entire conference audience, a true testament to the courage, connection, and support they feel is this community. A special interview of Winnie Harlow, led by children with vitiligo, provided a powerful platform for the children to share their unique perspectives while learning from someone whose vitiligo journey has inspired so many.
WVD-USA 2026 came to an end with a Carolina-style pep rally featuring Sir Purr and the TopCats cheer team from the Carolina Panthers. Joy filled the room as our vitiligo community celebrated a weekend of celebration, connection, and excitement for what the future holds.
