Callie Roberts, BS, MS, now a third-year medical student at the University of California-Davis, who worked with GVF physician Dr. Victor Huang on a research project studying the “Risk Assessment of Internal Malignancies in Patients With Vitiligo.” This oral abstract was originally presented at the 2021 GVF Scientific Symposium.
Abstract Overview:
Studies examining disease associations in vitiligo have focused primarily on psychiatric and autoimmune conditions.
A few large studies using national health databases have shown vitiligo may have associations with cancer risk, but results are mixed.
This abstract shared data from the researchers’ first retrospective analysis of cancer risk in an ethnically diverse patient population, controlling for potential confounders.
