Nanja van Geel, MD, PhD, Professor in the Department of Dermatology at the Ghent University Hospital in Belgium, was one of the esteemed invited speakers who presented at the recent Vitiligo International Symposium (VIS). In her presentation, “International Collaborative Project to Standardize the Assessment and Monitoring of Vitiligo in Clinical Trials, Registries and Clinical Practice” she addressed the ultimate goal from the perspective of evidence-based medicine to achieve a worldwide consensus on a standardized minimum/core dataset to be used in trials, clinical practice, and registries. As Dr. van Geel explained, this collaborative initiative will finally allow better interpretation, comparison, and pooling of results from different international centers and trials worldwide and will therefore provide essential information to get more insight in the disease and its management.
